The National Industrial Court sitting in Owerri, the Imo State capital , on Wednesday , issued an order of perpetual injunction restraining the state government and its agents from further slashing of pensions due to the pensioners of the state .

Delivering judgment in suit number NICN / OW / 144/ 2017, which was instituted by the pensioners against the state government, Justice Olufunke Anuwe said that the state government did not have the right to alter pensions due to pensioners.


A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Imo State, Barrister Kingsley Ononuju has been released after spending four days in his abductor’ s den.

Ononuju , a former Special Adviser on New Partnership For Africa ’s Development to the immediate past governor of the state , Ikedi Ohakim, was abducted on Thursday after he left his Owerri residence located at Oguta Street in the Aladimma area of the state capital at 8 pm .

The Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere has called on Nigerians to change their negative attitudes, which its impacts are divisive and retrogressive.

Prince Madumere made the call while fielding questions from the newsmen shortly after Presidential address of the Archbishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Revd Emmanuel Chukwuma at the occasion of the 16th Synod, which held at Christ Redemption Church, Enugu State last Friday.


The parish priest in charge of Saint Mary’ s Catholic Church , Eziama - Osuama, in the Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State , Rev . Father Christian Amusuo , has been arrested by operatives of the state police command for allegedly shooting his assistant , identified simply as Rev. Father Precious .

Our correspondent gathered that the priest was being held and interrogated at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for alleged attempted murder.
