Two persons lost their lives on Tuesday when an Avalon car and a motorcycle collided on the Owerri- Orlu Expressway, Imo State.

The crash occurred at the Onyema end of the expressway, leaving several others injured.

A motorist, Chikezie Nwadike, who took some of the victims to a hospital, said one Innocent Ozuruigbo and another victim, whose identity had yet to be ascertained, died in the accident.

The police in Imo State have reportedly apprehended the mastermind of a bank robbery which led to the killing of a bank customer in the state.

PUNCH Metro had reported that some gunmen trailed the bank customer to a Zenith bank branch on Wetheral Road, Owerri, the state capital. They reportedly carted away the money which the victim wanted to deposit in the bank and shot him dead.

The Owerri branch of Nigerian Medical Association has described as unfortunate the state of health facilities in Imo State.
NMA also said that medical institutions in the state are deteriorating because of the state Government allegedly had interest in dealing with non professionals, adding that the Association will not recognize Barr Ngozi Njoku who the governor appointed as the commissioner for health and women affairs.
The branch chairman, Darlington Akuku, the immediate past chairman, Hyacinth Emele and a former Chairman of the branch, Jideuma Egwim, who spoke on Thursday in Owerri, the state capital, asserted that condition of health delivery system of the state was the worst throughout the country.

A former governor of Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim, has told his predecessor in office, Rochas Okorocha, to stop ridiculing the country's judicial system by allegedly disobeying numerous court judgements and pronouncements delivered against him and the state government by courts of competent jurisdictions .
Ohakim equally told the governor to allegedly stop converting the assets of the state into personal estate and concentrate more in delivering the gains of the democracy to the citizenry.
