Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has condoled Senator John Shagaya over the unfortunate passing of his wife, Dame (Mrs.) Pauline Shagaya who was aged 71.

Governor Okorocha who registered his  condolences to the Jos born General at his country home yesterday through his deputy, Prince Eze Madumere described late Dame Shagaya as a great woman who stood by her husband all through, ensuring the family was bonded together  in love and care even while General Shagaya took on challenging patriotic services to the father land.

Prince Madumere described the relationship between Okorocha and Shagaya as that of father and son.

Barely two months after Imo Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere inaugurated a Committee to superintend his proposed Imo annual inter-campus football tournament, the committee yesterday  hosted a seminar for the Local Organising Committees of the ready-to-participate campuses at the Conference Hall, Office of the Deputy Governor of Imo State, Government House, Owerri.

In his address, Prince Eze Madumere Football Competition Committee Chairman, Hon. Emeka Ajih said the responsibility of the committee is derived from its terms of reference, which he said is to design a blueprint for a sustainable annual football tournament; to come up with reliable rules and regulations to guide against abuse.

In apparent reply to Governor Okorocha’s claim that his government is not indebted to anybody, the former governorship aspirant in Imo State during the 2015 general elections under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Mr. Okey Theodore Ezeh, has said that Imo State under Rochas is heavily indebted to the tune of N110bn, stressing that by the end of 2015 Imo State’s “domestic debt was captured at N7174bn and external debt at $59.16m”.

The Imo State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress and it sister unions have advised the state Governor, Rochas Okorocha, to use the Paris Club Loan refund released to the state by the federal government to clear backlog of salary arrears owned workers , pensions and gratuities to the senior citizens of the state.

In what appeared like a swift move for a political empowerment, the People of Owerri zone have begun a move to make sure that the outgoing governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, hands over power to the zone in 2019.

Speaking shortly after his inauguration, the president of Olu Owerri Unity Association, Chief Martin Opara, said that discussions were in advanced stages with Okigwe and Orlu zones to make sure that a Governor of Owerri zone extraction becomes a reality in the next political dispensation.
