The Staff of Ministry of Commerce and Industry are charged to braced up to the task of ensuring that the policies and programmes of the
State Governor towards industrialization of the state are achieved.

The Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Chief Chidi Ibeh who gave the charge during his maiden meeting with Heads of Department of the Ministry expressed confidence in the caliber of staff and reminded them of the challenge of ensuring the turnaround of the state economy.

Imo State governor, Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha has redeemed his pledge to paralympians from the state, whereby he has presented brand new Kia Rio saloon cars to the three Imo Rio216 gold medalists along side their coaches.

Presenting the cars to the five beneficiaries and a check of N1 million each on behalf of the governor, the Chief of Staff, Government House Owerri, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu said that the gesture is in fulfilment of the governor’s promise to the Paralympic medalists of Imo origin who represented Nigeria.

Imo House of Assembly has passed a motion urging Governor Rochas Okorocha to remove the Commissioner for Community Government Council, Hon. Innocent Eke (Obulimba) over allegation of impeding the smooth exercise of its oversight functions among others.

The resolution followed a motion which came as a matter of urgent public importance by the House Committee Chairman on Judiciary Autonomous Communities and Chieftaincy Affairs and member for Ideato North, Hon. Arthur Egwim and seconded by Hon. Emma Orie (Ohaji/Egbema).

Former Commissioner for Internally Resources and Pension Matters, Mr. Nick Opara-Ndudu has suggested that the state government and Owerri Nchi Ise Community embrace and adopt a new approach which he christened ‘Re-Development Scheme” to bring lasting solution to the lingering feud generated by the proposed relocation of Ekeukwu market.

The ex-commissioner whose suggestion was made public in an open letter he addressed to Gov. Rochas Okorocha entitled “Ekeukwu Owerri controversy, the imperative of a paradigim shift” further stressed the need for both sides to shift current stance to allow for the implementation of the policy which he assured would result in win-win outcome for all stakeholders.

There was unusual apprehension on the part of the people of Imo State nay South East and South South following reported plans by the Federal Government to package a bill for an Act to create grazing reserves in states across the country.
This unusual tension and fear as expressed by the People of the afore mentioned geo-political zones stemmed from what has been described as the increasing spate of a new phenomenon of criminal audacity that has apparently continued to remain the standing ethos of some people from the northern part of Nigeria since President Muhammadu Buhari’s ascendency in 2015.
