Imo State House of Assembly is set to host members of State Houses of Assembly in Nigeria on September 20, 2017 as they push to have one voice on the quit notice given to the Igbo in the North by the Northern youths.

Speaking during an interactive session with some bloggers and journalist in Owerri, the speaker of Imo State House, Rt. Hon. Acho Ihim, said the move is to ensure that Nigeria remains one nation where everyone will be free to live in any part of the country. He further stated that they have the support of the governor to host the event which will make Imo Assembly pacesetters in the nation.

The number three citizen of the state further refuted the fact that lack of fights in the Assembly means they are inactive, adding that history will remember them as the best having moved and passed 112 motions and 65 bills respectively in two years against the 45 bills that was passed by the last assembly in 4 years.

He then hailed the governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, saying that he will be missed when he lives office. Hon. Ihim further stated that the fact that they are not fighting with the governor always means they understand that Imolites will suffer when they fight and it will also hamper the good works the governor is doing in the state.

On the forthcoming Okigwe APC leaders meeting scheduled for August 1, 2017 at Umualumoke Okigwe, Imo State, Hon. Ihim said the meeting will help the leaders regroup, work with one mind and also thank the governor for the good works he is doing in the zone.

Contrary to publications on some state based Newspapers saying that the Speaking has turned himself the leader of the party in the zone, Hon. Chukwunonye Irouno, the SA to the Governor on Entertainment, who was also at the event, made it clear that by the virtue of the speaker’s position as the number three citizen of the state and the most ranking member of the government in the zone, he has the right to convene a meeting of the party leaders.  He further stated that the publication holds no water, as the Speaker is doing what is right and needful.

Also Speaking, another Okigwe son, Prof. Nnamdi Obiaraeri, the SA to the Governor on Education hailed the speaker’s diligence and the progressive nature of the Governor, adding that having served under the last three Governors of the state, he can confess that only Governor Okorocha thinks of the Future.

He cited commissioners who have progressed to the State House and House of Representatives, while others have been presented with bigger opportunities which have left them relevant in the society.

Also at the event are members representing Ihite Oboma and Oru West Hon. Dr. Mrs Ejiogu and Hon. Bar. Donatus respectively.
