Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State reiterated his commitment to prioritizing Imo workers during this year’s Workers’ Day celebration in Owerri, the state capital.
He criticized workers colluding with corrupt individuals to defraud the government and highlighted his decision to oversee the Ministry of Land to restore integrity. Despite the added responsibility, Governor Uzodimma pledged to make sacrifices for the state, urging workers to join him in making Imo State exemplary.
The Governor outlined various welfare packages for workers, including the implementation of the N30,000 minimum wage, prompt salary payments, free transportation, and a health insurance scheme. He also promised other benefits, such as palliative measures to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal and an adjustment of the salary for lower cadre workers to N40,000.
Governor Uzodimma reminded workers of his administration’s initiatives, such as extending the service period for teachers and starting gratuity payments for retired workers, showing his commitment to their welfare.
