Imo State Police Command has arrested 14 suspected members of the Black-Axe confraternity during a targeted operation in Irete, Owerri West LGA.

The arrests were made on Monday following an intelligence-led raid on a suspected criminal hideout, demonstrating the police’s proactive approach to combating crime in the state.

Recovered from the suspects were a locally made single barrel pistol, two rounds of live cartridges, and other items linked to cult-related activities.

The suspects are currently in police custody, undergoing thorough interrogation as part of ongoing investigations.

Law enforcement officials are working diligently to identify and apprehend other members of the gang, as well as those involved in the manufacturing and distribution of illegal firearms.

Commissioner Aboki Danjuma reaffirmed the command’s unwavering commitment to stamping out cultism and other forms of criminality in Imo State.

He urged residents to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and report any suspicious activities to ensure the safety and security of their communities.
