The charges relate to various contracts awarded by the former minister to Enginos Nigeria Limited, owned by Sirika’s younger brother, Abubakar.

The Sirika brothers and Enginos Nigeria Limited are set to be arraigned before Justice Belgore of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Garki, Abuja today.

This marks the second criminal charge filed against the ex-aviation minister. Last Thursday, he was arraigned for N2.7 billion fraud before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja.

In this new case, Sirika is accused of using his position as Minister of Aviation to confer an unfair advantage upon Enginos Nigeria Limited, which is owned by his brother, Ahmad Abubakar Sirika. The charges include influence in awarding contracts for the construction of a terminal building at Katsina Airport, establishment of a Fire Truck Maintenance and Refurbishment Centre at Katsina Airport, and procurement and installation of equipment for the Aviation House in Abuja.

The EFCC alleges that Sirika knowingly possessed proceeds of criminal activities amounting to N2.3 billion between August 2022 and May 2023.

Earlier, Sirika’s younger brother, Abubakar, was arrested and detained by the EFCC in connection with payments totaling N3.2 billion made to his company’s bank account by the former minister.
