Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, has been accused of assaulting a journalist during a late-night outing in Istanbul, Turkey. The incident allegedly occurred as Osimhen left an entertainment venue with friends.

Turkish media outlet Posta reported that a group of reporters, including journalist Tolga Bozduman, attempted to take photos of the Nigerian forward, leading to a heated confrontation. Bozduman claims the altercation escalated after flashes from the cameras caught Osimhen’s attention.

“I filmed Osimhen at the door with three of my colleagues,” Bozduman recounted. “When the flashes went off, all hell broke loose. He ran towards me, screaming, and tried to grab my camera. When I resisted, he punched me in the head. My right side still hurts.”

Bozduman further alleged that Osimhen swore at him and offered money to have the footage deleted. When the journalist refused, Osimhen reportedly threatened him, saying, “I’ll destroy you.”

Neither Osimhen nor Galatasaray has officially addressed the allegations.

Despite the off-field controversy, Osimhen is having a stellar season with the Turkish giants, scoring 15 goals and providing six assists in 19 matches across all competitions.

This incident has sparked a wave of reactions on social media, with fans and pundits awaiting official statements from the player or his club. If substantiated, the accusations could tarnish the image of one of Africa’s most prominent football stars.
