The United Progressive Party (UPP) aspirant for Orlu senate seat, Comrade Precious Nwadike has averred that his arrest and detention by men of the Nigeria Police Force, will not deter him from contesting election, as he is motivated by the pain, suffering and agony of Orlu people whom he served as National President of Orluzurumee Youth Assembly, the youth wing of the apex socio-cultural organization of the 12 LGAs of Orlu zone for 6 years and understands their needs, challenges and aspirations.

Comrade Nwadike stated this while addressing journalists, shortly after the wedding reception of his former staff, which he chaired at Harvest Classic Resort, No 1 Awo Omamma Street, Ikenegbu Layout Owerri, recently. When asked if he has the requisite financial war chest to contend with the other aspirants, he said, “they say I don’t have as much money as they do. Why then are they after me? The truth is that the electorate already know our antecedent, hence most of them, as groups and individuals are already mobilizing support for me in different ways without my knowledge. What happened at Orlu Timber market where I was arrested while addressing over 5,000 supporters is a clear indication that the people already know what they want, hence it will no longer be business as usual in 2019”.

Comrade Nwadike noted that no amount of intimidation or arm twisting will cause him to drop his ambition, because it is not just about him as an individual but about the Orlu people, hence we called it, “Our Orlu Project”. “Imolites, no doubt know those behind my arrest. This is not the first time I am being arrested, harassed and intimidated by the same government and their agents. My arrest is not the major issue. If I could go through such ordeal in the hands of government agents, I wonder what ordinary persons in Imo are suffering. I challenge any of the aspirants who claims to be richer than me to tell us his investment in Orlu zone, his source of livelihood and how many people are employed in his establishment as his effort to reduce unemployment”.

Comr Nwadike revealed that, he was offered juicy positions by the present government but rejected the offers because according to him, the rescue mission government derailed from what we thought it would be. “It is also on record that I have rejected several offers to make me support this government but, I, chose to remain with the people, in line with the dictates of my conscience”.

Comrade Nwadike finally, called on Orlu people to brace up and be ready to vote out those who have held them hostage for so long, as Orlu senate seat should no longer be used as compensation to settle groups or individuals but for the collective interest of Orlu people at home and in the diaspora.
