In view of the growing insecurity and spate of killings in Igboland and across the country, the Apex Youth Council of the Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) under the leadership of Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, has asked the Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government to redeploy all, DPO’s, Commissioners of Police, Acting Inspector Generals and all the Army Commanders in Igboland to their indigenous states.
OYC insisted that for the security of lives and properties to improve in the country, the president must deploy these heads of security agencies to man their indigenous states as they can better understand the situation within their states and locality than other regions.
The height of insecurity in the country is even brought to bear when even personnel of the army, especially from other regions, engage in the extrajudicial killing of indigenes of the states they were deployed to secure as witnessed in the celebrated case of one Chimaobi Nwaorgu, a commercial motorcyclist from Abia State and even the unfortunate and shameful killing of fellow personnel as reported in the case of a kidnap kingpin Wadume, who have since confessed of working with some military personnel and being a political thug of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the same party with the president, during the last general election.
The Ohanaeze youth Council (OYC) further pointed out that if the president is not aversed with finding lasting solutions to the persistent security crises in the country and also not in support of the series of killings and mayhem unleashed on Ndigbo in their hometowns, then he must harken to this call to send the security personnel to their areas of origin. This move will go a long way in not only improving the security of the South East region but will help to inculcate discipline into the senses of erring and trigger-happy security operatives.
OYC restated that if President Mohammadu Buhari fail to adhere to this humble appeal of over 30 millions Igbo Youths it will amount to their feelings and believe that he is on ethnic cleansing to eliminate Ndi Igbo.
