The Commissioner for Education, Prof. (Mrs.) Viola Adaku Onwuliri has announced the banning of further registration of new Private Schools in the State .

The Commissioner made the announcement while addressing both the staff of the Ministry and the Secondary Education Management Board (SEMB) at the Block of the Ministry. She frowned at the rate of proliferation of Private Schools without standard and qualified and certified teachers.

The Commissioner said the Ministry would carry out a revalidation exercise on those already approved /registered to ensure that they conform to standards as the rebuild Imo Government is poised to give lmo Children quality education.

She started that Governor lhedioha is very passionate about education and recalled how lmo Children got the first five positions in 2018 WASSCE and the best teacher award given to Dr. (Mrs.) lbe Bridget of Government Technical College,Owerri by the President’s Teachers and Schools Excellence Award.

The Education Commissioner expressed the hope that the products of lmo School system would be celebrated for their academic feats. She, therefore , enjoined the staff to their work seriously, avoid lateness and truancy as well as warned them against any form of bribery and corruption. The Commissioner disclosed that an award would be given at the end of every month to encourage seriousness and hardwork

She said the posting of Directors recently was for effective service delivery : adding that every department would be active and functional as money was mapped out for them in the budget.

Prof. Onwuliri reiterated that the official language of communication in Ministry is lgbo language and on every Thursday, all staff should wear traditional attire. She challenged lgbo parents to always encourage their Children to speak lgbo , culture and tradition of Ndigbo.

She harped on the need for parents to always interact with their Children and parents to jointly raise their children, have family Alter and pray together.

Speaking, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr John Uzoma reminded that staff that they are the instruments for the implementation of the Governor’s policies on Education and maintained that for them to discharge their duties effectively and dispassionately they have to have the fear of God in them.

He cautioned them against the suppression of files and the demand for gratifications.
