Succor has come to widows in Ideato North and orphanages across Imo state as Ngoforo Foundation has taken delivery of 500 bags of rice and many other items meant for their happiness this Christmas.

The Foundation within the week concluded plans for their distribution, with the personnel already compiling the data of the widows in Ideato North.

Ngoforo Foundation, which is a flagship youth empowerment and educational development platform in Ideato North, has in the last five months carried out a number of schemes. It is to the Foundation’s credit that sixteen undergraduate and postgraduate students drawn from the various communities in Ideato North were sent abroad in an all-expense paid scholarship scheme.

Speaking during the week on the rationale behind the massive distribution of rice to orphanages and widows, the Chairman of the Foundation, Franklin Ngoforo, regretted that the level of hunger in the society is too unbearable. According to him, “We cannot pretend that all is well. All is not well at all.

“First, it is my personal belief that a society where a few people feed while the rest starve is headed for a disaster. So, it must be our duty to reach out to our needy neighbors; we must stop agonies; we must give people a reason to smile. As a people, this is what we must do for ourselves. This is the meaning of humanity.

“Again, there is a tendency for us to forget what matters most about the festive season we are about entering. Everyone believes that Christmas is a period of happiness. But that happiness makes no meaning when people around you are in tears. It is the vision of my Foundation to touch lives and make this society a better place,” he stated.

The Ideato North-born philanthropist further commended Gov Emeka Ihedioha for his commitment to the payment of pensions. “The Governor has demonstrated sincerity of purpose and has proven to be a symbol of moral excellence.

“You see, these pensioners are our fathers and mothers who expended their youthfulness, their brain and their brawn in service of our state. Yet the former government denied them their pensions and starved many of them to death. That is unconscionable, reprehensible and condemnable. So, Gov Ihedioha has proven to be an index of uprightness, and by paying the pensioners he has saved lives and lowered the poverty level in the state. He deserves to be commended,” Ngoforo said.
