The Chairman of Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Agunwa Samuel Ohiri has applauded the efforts of the state Governor, , Sen. Hope Uzodimma on the ongoing war against the Covid-19 pandemic.

Eze Imo made the remark while briefing newsmen at the end of the traditional rulers’ council meeting held on Monday at Obi Eze Imo palace, Owerri.


He stated that Uzodimma is one of the first governors to put machineries in place in order to combat the Corona virus.

Eze Ohiri who spoke on behalf of the other traditional rulers also saluted the efforts of frontline health workers as well as the Imo Covid-19 monitoring team led by Prof Maurice Iwu on their dogged efforts so far to contain the dreaded virus.
The traditional ruler promised that ndi eze Imo will help the Governor in taking the Covid-19 sensitization to all communities across Imo.

In his words, “the council has observed that the rural dwellers are not properly informed about the virus”.
“This is the season of Corona virus, and we the traditional rulers don’t see it necessary for cultural festivals to hold. We therefore say that all cultural festivals should be on hold until we are sure of the safety of our people”, Eze Ohiri added.

Eze Imo therefore called on all traditional rulers within the state to join forces with the Governor in order to win the war against the Corona virus.

He also admonished the public that there is no parallel leadership of Imo Council of traditional rulers, as he remains the authentic chairman of Imo Council of traditional rulers, until his tenure elapses.
