A new Radio station, “My Radio 100.9FM” Owerri, has been inaugurated by the chairman of Capital Oil and Gas Industry Limited, Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah, at its broadcasting house at Akabo in Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State.

A former bank Chief Executive, Dr. Alex Otti also commissioned the ideal Media Underground Studios of the radio station.

The maiden news of the radio station was read by a Veteran Broadcaster, Chief Peter Edochie who is also a Nollywood top artiste while Senator Samuel Anyanwu who represents Owerri Zone unveiled Uche Ogbuagu Loverider Foundation.

In his welcome address tagged, “My Journey so far”, the Founder and Chief Executive of “My Radio 100.9FM” Owerri, Mr. Uche Ogbuagu, assured that the establishment of the radio was apolitical and that the station would stand by the truth and play by the rules and ethics of broadcasting.

He expressed joy that history was being made in the broadcasting media industry as this was the first time a Nigerian artiste and comedian was opening a full-fledged commercial FM station in Africa.
According to him, he was proud that the people of Imo State and his home town of Akabo in Ikeduru LGA in particular were happy to be known and recognized for housing a radio station of that magnitude.
Mr. Ogbuagu disclosed that it was Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah who made him the Head of Creative Media Unit, Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN), a position that brought him to limelight in media practice, and gave him the exposure and impetus to apply to the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Abuja for licence in 2015.
He explained that it was to immortalize Dr. Ubah’s kind gestures by way of advice, support and indelible encouragement that he named the radio premises “Ifeanyi Ubah Court.”

The ace artiste also commended the Bishop of Diocese of Ikeduru Anglican Communion, the Rt. Rev. Emma Maduwuike, a statesman, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the former deputy speaker of House of Representatives, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, a financial guru, Dr. Alex Otti, his confidante, Dr. Osmond Ukanacho, his friend, Chief Gabriel Achebe, his partner, Mr. Jude Onwusonye, his wife, Mrs Nkeiru Uche Ogbuagu, associates and clients for their support and love.

Mr. Ogbuagu regretted the collapse of the station’s 100-metre mast three days to the commencement of the radio test transmission billed for April 1, 2016, but expressed thanks to God for ensuring that no life was lost in the unfortunate incident.

He also directed the observance of a minute silence at the occasion in honour of his mentor in the broadcast field, Mazi Chike Gbujie who died before the commencement of the radio transmission.
The radio chief executive expressed gratitude to God for having led him so far and pledged to use the platform to further propagate His gospel and serve humanity.

Various traditional dance groups performed while the Saint Stephen’s Anglican Church Choir, Akabo rendered an anthem at the well-attended ceremony which had the former Speaker of House of Representatives, Chief Emeka Ihedioha represented by Chief Chuma Nnaji as the chairman.
