The facilitator of the event Star Nite which is a another version of the famous industry Night in Lagos, Ogini Emmanuel OlaSunkanmi aka Deja Saquo has declared his love for the talents in Imo State and the state at large.
The Osun State born DJ who works for both Hot 99.5 FM Owerri and Valencia Lounge made the statement ahead of the second edition of Star Nite, while speaking to www.otowngist.com.
According to Saquo, Imo state has what it takes in terms of talent to compete with other states in the country who are currently making waves in the area of entertainment.
He however added that lack of quality events and investment in the industry by government and individuals have made the industry stagnant for a while.
“I’ve been thinking for a while on what I can do for this town to make things happen here and this idea came to me. It is a version of the Industry Nite in Lagos and we are doing it to add value to the artistes in the state, to show people in the state and beyond that these guys are really great”
Although he was brought up in Lagos State, he has spent close to 10 years in Imo State and is impressed with what he has seen so far, which made him say he would love to change his state of origin to Imo State.
“Imolites are peace loving people and I just wish I can become one of them. The state holds a lot of promises for entertainers and I want to be part of the team that will unveil them” he added.
As most people have thought that the event will be for the elite artistes in down, he played down the notion by saying that it is for everyone as long as the artiste has a good song.
“The event will surely drive artistes out of their hideouts because it is not only for a set of people. The vision here is to expose artistes to the level we can call them stars and we cannot achieve this by writing anyone off. As long as you have a good song the stage is yours when it is your turn”
