On Friday the 12th of April, the 300 level students of Theatre Arts department in Imo State University finally performed the much anticipated play spokesman for the oracle at Commassie Arts Theatre of the campus.
The play written by Prof. P.E. Nwabueze of the department reflects the can of worms and contradictions of a society. It displays the pressure between a remnant moral culture and a ruling materialist one.
Through the presentation of its dialogue, the play presents a large picture of the society in its plain form in general, it stressed the need for moral values in the society.
The play was performed under the watchful eyes of some lecturers and some graduates of the department making the saying ‘once a thespian, always a thespian’ true.
Among the guests were Mr. Promise Eke, Public Relations officer ISOPADEC while the rest of the audience were students from various departments of the university and beyond.
A close talk with the director of the play Mr. Nwamadi Obinna revealed that the production of the play was nothing short of a herculean task. He also stated that Spokesman or the oracle is one of the most wonderful performances seen so far in the department.
From the loud ovation that followed the curtain fall, I would say that it was a good performance.
The cast include Nwosu Darlington, Ezeh Blessing/Elizianya, Ozioma, and Ohashamnwe, Uchegbu Dickson.
Others Anyamele Cynthia/Ezemma
