The last is yet to be heard of the subtle feud developing between the member for Owerri North constituency in Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Dan Ikpeazu and his mother’s relations in Amaeze Obibiezena community.
Nigeria Newspoint gathered that the lawmaker had attracted the wrath of his maternal relations for delisting one Prof. Manu Enyiegbulam who was appointed the Government Liaison Officer GLO for the CGC in the area and equally denied the Amaeze people the right to produce the youth leader for the CGC.
A leader in the community who spoke under the condition of anonymity said narrated the lawmaker has refused to visit the Amaeze bloc of his constituents since nearly two years he assumed office and has equally refused to grade any of the ten inter-community and local government roads in the area.
He had rather graded the few roads in his own Agbala community without extending same gesture to Amaeze, his maternal home, he lamented.
According to the sources the late traditional ruler of the Obibiezena autonomous community, Eze Leonard Ishiguzo had documented the distribution pattern of positions to the various blocs of Amaeze, Ogbeke, Amorie and Emeka-Obibi which make up the community.
The people are not happy with Hon. Ikpeazu for allegedly replacing the GLO with one Ifeanyi Etoruom, a nephew of his.
As it stands now, the Amaeze people do not have a single representative in the Community Government Council for the area rather the lawmaker has untowardly, as they claimed nominated two persons each from Ogbeke and Amaorie as well as one representative from Emeke but nobody is representing Amaeze in the CGC.
Investigation further revealed that the former GLO, Prof. Enyiegbulam is the one generally acceptable to the people and having been inaugurated had gone into action by spending over N350,000 to construct modern school in the area at his personal expense.
The people have so far disowned Mr. Etoruom urging Imo State governor, Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha and Commissioner for CGC and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barr. Ugochi Nnanna-Okoro to intervene to stop the acrimony and violence brewing in the area.
Meanwhile, a source disclosed that Hon. Ikpeazu’s hatred on his maternal home, Amaeze stemmed from the rejection of a “tiny and skinny” cow leg he presented to the people at the death of his mother last year.
The people had expected the law maker to come with a sizeable live cow to honour his mother and their sister, at death but he was said to have presented a skinny cow leg which the people rejected and the legislator did not even bother, according to a source.
Consequently, on December 26, 2012 when the people invited him for an occasion, he rebuffed them, recalling that they had insulted him when his mother died and allegedly vowed to deal with them.
The people said their description of the tiny cow leg as “Okpa-Nkita” irked the lawmaker who allegedly decided to marginalize them in infrastructural development and dividends of democracy.
Efforts to reach Hon. Ikpeazu as at press time proved abortive as his telephone could not be accessed.
