Imo State Police Command has paraded the son of the traditional ruler of Ogbobu Autonomous Community in Okigwe LGA of the state, Eze Basil Igwegbe.
The kidnap suspect, Prince Simeon Igwegbe, 38 years, was paraded alongside two others, Kingsley Henshaw, 34, and Sunday Ikechukwu Opkaraeke, 36 at their communities in Arondizuogu, Onimo LGA and Ogbubu, Okigwe LGA.
They were paraded Thursday before newsmen by the state Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Katsina and his team.
Briefing newsmen at the compound of one of the suspects in Arondizuogu, Sunday Ikechukwu Okparaeke aka Nwamama, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Katsina said that the gang attacked and kidnapped Eze Josephat Aliebo of Njikoka Umulolo Okigwe on March 19, 2013.
The Commissioner of Police enthused that they released Eze Aliebo on March 27, 2013, kidnapped Rev. Banabass Arinze of St. Michael’s Anglican Church, Amaozu Ikpaoji Arondizuogu Okigwe, on March 8, 2013 and later released him on March 13, 2013.
Mr. Katsina posited that the suspects were arrested in Umunze, Anambra state, through the coordinated efforts of his intelligence unit, the Command Special Ambush Squad and his expanded strategic partners from Anambra State Police Command.
The police boss averred that through his network, the command discovered the camp of the kidnap suspect, Sunday Ikechukwu Okparaeke, aka Nwamama in Arondizuogu.
The commissioner of police regretted that the victims of the gang were kept under life threatening conditions.
He said that Eze Igbuegbe is on the run having discovered the glaring legal implication of shielding criminals.
Mr. Katsina warned the monarch to report himself to the nearest police station before the long arm of the law catches up with him.
He explained that the offence of armed robbery, kidnapping are all conspiratorial in nature, adding that anybody found in that type of act is an accomplice and will be made to face justice according to his own level of involvement.
The commissioner of police informed that four vehicles believed to have been snatched from their owners were recovered.
He mentioned the cars as Toyota Corolla, Nissan Maxima, Toyota Fore Runner, Toyota Rava 4, saying that two more vehicles are at Umuahia, Abia State.
Mr. Katsina advised people to stay out of crime as his command has put all preventive mechanisms to curb kidnapping, armed robbery and other social vices in the state.
Speaking to newsmen, the suspects c onfessed to the crime but begged for pardon, promising to turn a new leave.
