The City of Houston Texas, the airwaves, and the world in General will be thrilled as artistes conglomerate on the 19th of May in Houston Texas for a solidarity Project tagged “Bright Light Solidarity Project”
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, the initiator of the programme and CEO, Franco Records, Franco Bonghan said “Everywhere in the world people are starving, hunger and poverty remain the most important threats to human civilization. Technology is growing at a very fast pace yet, these advances in technology only help to make the world more dangerous than safe.
There is urgent need for solidarity among nations, tribes, and races to provide moral foundation for understanding and cooperation.
Cultural relativity has never been more important than now as we face great challenges of civil wars” He cited, that in Congo and Syria women are being killed and raped in their numbers, while in Jerusalem, the world is still dreaming of a lasting peace that will guarantee dignity to both Palestinians and Israel.
In Sudan, the two states solution still suffers from the ashes of a 50 year civil war. Dictators around the world are still holding their people in bondage just to survive another day in office.
In Nigeria, Boko Haram poses major threat to stability and peace.
The threat of nuclear weapon force people to live more in fear than peace.
AIDS, malaria, and cancer are killing faster than ak47. We watch these every day as we drop our kids off to school just to learn there was a shooting at the same school, we realize our place of worship has become a place of fear, the ‘Boston Marathon’ after a century of togetherness has become the ‘Boston Bombing’.
Also speaking, DJ Skeeper said ‘The Bright Light Solidarity Project’ is a simplistic musical approach in addressing some of these issues as he sings a little of the lyrics.
Adding his voice the Nigerian super star Kelly Hansome said he agreed to be part of the event because musicians and music executives, owe a duty of leadership to their fans, families, countries and the world.
“We are supposed to spread awareness through music, what we sing can go a long way to heal the wounds and create a channel of understanding through our lyrical manifestations which is often meditated on beyond the scope of our imagination.
Music is life, music is love and music is vital in every struggle. When we sing, we don’t just express our feelings, we use our musical influence as goodwill ambassadors to fight for change in this world that is filled with violence, crime, hatred, tribal and religious intolerance.
Music can be our contribution to fighting injustice and the right to freedoms as we all crave for a better world and I have done a song for that titled ‘Ome Nwanne’”
