Eight governors of the yet-to-be registered All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday in Owerri, Imo State urged the people to dump the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and pitch their tent with the APC.
They spoke at the Imo Freedom Day and second anniversary celebration of Gov. Rochas Okorocha.
The governors are Babatunde Fashola (Lagos), Rauf Aregbesola (Osun), Ibrahim Shettima (Borno), Senator Ajimobi Abiola (Oyo), Senator Amosu (Ogun), Tanko Almakura (Nasarawa), Fayemi Kayode (Ekiti) and Adams Oshiomhole (Edo).
They lambasted the PDP describing its 12-year rule in Imo State as one of locusts.
Fashola stated that the journey of change has arrived Imo State and the South/East, saying that there is no better person to drive the vehicle of change than Okorocha.
He maintained that the solution to the country’s myriads of problem would be provided by the APC and congratulated Imo people for supporting the Okorocha administration.
Oyo state governor, Ajimobi Abiola stated that the PDP has graduated from People Deceiving Party to People Destroying People.
He lauded what he termed the massive infrastructural revolution in Imo State being spearheaded by the Okorocha administration.
In his remarks, Ibrahim Shettima said he had come to felicitate with Okorocha in spite of the challenges facing his state, Borno.
His Ogun State counterpart, Senator Amosu hailed Okorocha who, he described as the people’s governor.
He urged Imo people not to allow anyone deceive them because according to him, the way to go is APC.
Almakura recalled the turn of events in 2011 general polls and congratulated Imo people for choosing Okorocha.
He enjoined Imolites to continue to back Okorocha because he is the one that would lead the people to the mainstream of the country’s politics.
Fayemi Kayode of Ekiti State hailed what he described as the transformative prowess of Okorocha, saying that it was what the people needed.
His Osun State counterpart, Rauf Aregbesola insisted that APC must win in Imo State to take the state to the next and higher level of development.
Taking his turn, Adams Oshiohmole of Edo State noted that a system subsists for as long as the people allow it.
He blasted those politicians he said, abandoned their states to hover in Abuja.
Oshiohmole lauded Okorocha’s development strides.
Earlier, Gov Rochas Okorocha had assured Nigerians that APC has come to stay, adding that the party has no fewer than 23-member governors.
He promised to chase out the PDP from Imo State.
