The bishop of Methodist Church Nigeria in diocese of Owerri, Rt Rev Obadiah O. Ogbai has called on youths of the diocese to work towards becoming people that will be needed in the church and the society instead of being liabilities which most youths have become.
Bishop Agbai made the call during the Eucharistic service that marked the official opening of the 16th annual diocesan youth convention of Methodist Youth Fellowship in the dioceses of Owerri holding at Wesley Methodist Church Ikenegbu Layout, Owerri on Saturday, August 17, 2013.
Speaking at the service, the clergy said that youths ought to live exemplary lives in the church and strive to become servants of God that will be needed by the church and the society.
He charged the youths to works hard in their various endeavors so that their parents and church can brag with their achievements.
Rt Rev Agbai cited the biblical Job (in Job 1 verse 1), where he listed the virtues that could make one achieve such feat while serving God.
He listed being blameless, upright, having the fear of God and being able to shun evil in his life.
He concluded by charging the youths to make good use of the convention to improve their spiritual lives, seeing that they do the right thing at all times, because such is a condition to attract God’s blessing.
Also at the service are Very Rev E O Chukwu, host presbyter; Rev Ndubuisi Gbaruko, Diocesan Youth Work Coordinator; Very Rev Onyenula, Rev Barr. Uzomaka Chukwu, Rev Felicia Nwabunike and Rev Sammuel Umunnabuike.
Others are Rev Ikpechukwu, Rev Chibuzo Ajagba, Rev Ajalam and the bishop’s chaplain.
