Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has directed the immediate suspension of a female commissioner in the state, Mrs. Nma Onyechere, who was in charge of the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.
Mrs Onyechere is reported to have recently slapped a male member of the Local Government Service Commission. Report also quoted her to have turned down all entreaties to apologize to abused man.

 The governor also ordered the sack of the Transition Committee Chairman of Oguta Local Government, Chief Henry Igbomezie. Dr. Louis Obodo has since been appointed as the new Transition Committee chairman of the local government.
 It was gathered that the decision to suspend Mrs Onyechere was taken at the Executive Council meeting held on Tuesday, February 11, 2014.
 The Commissioner for Education (Primary/Secondary), Dr. Mrs. Uche Ejiogu has also been directed to oversee the affairs of the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development till further notice.
 A statement signed by the governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Media, Sam Onwuemeodo said the suspension of the duo was in the best interest of the administration and the people of the state in general.
