The people of Umuduru/Isielle Village in Ezi Awo II Autonomous Community, Awo-Omamma, Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State, were last week thrown into mourning, when a 20 year old boy smashed into a smithscreen by a collapsing wall of a fence.
The boy, who was simply identified as Ifeanyi, was said to have gone to the place to help the workers who were trying to pull down the wall of the fence as it had craved in.

Ifeanyi, who was said to have finished his secondary education last year at Secondary School, Awo-Omamma, was not one of the engaged workers at the site, but had gone there to help pull down the caved wall of the fence as one of his family was the contractor handling the work.
As work was in progress to pull down the caved wall, another part of it suddenly crashed down as the boy with the other workers tried to escape, he was unlucky as he fell down and the cast beam of the wall smashed him to pieces.
An eye witness said that the head and the upper part of the boy’s body were dashed to pieces. All efforts to retrieve the boy’s body from the rubbles of the collapsed fence failed until a caterpillar was brought. The caterpillar excavated the rubbles and pulled out the lifeless body of the boy.
People from the boy’s village who spoke, blamed the contractor for using inferior material in constructing the fence.
They however described the boy as a vivacious and peace loving young man who was loved by many in the village.
When  the home of the deceased boy was visited, the parents were shell shocked that they declined speaking to our reporter.
Sympathizers and close relations were seen wearing long faces.
