The Imo commissioner of police Mr. Abdulmajid Ali who took over the mantle of leadership of the Imo police command in not more than five weeks now have swung into action with his newly launched, Operation Scorpion Squad, as he paraded criminals both dead and alive at the commands headquarters on the April 1, 2014, during a press briefing. Speaking to newsmen, the police boss frowned at the way some hoodlums decided to test the might of the commands new scorpion squad which he said lead to some reported cases.
Speaking further Mr. Ali disclosed that this is due to the new structures of crime battle being put in place.
Though the CP expressed delight that the command is making progress and arresting some criminals and recovering some Kidnapped victims, Mr. Ali maintained that he will live no stone on turned in fishing out criminals as he clearly warned that henceforth that Imo State will be too hot for criminals, Robbers, kidnappers and people involved in other forms of illegality. He Pointed out that it is best for them to turn a new leaf as facing his wrath will too hard on them , the CP further disclosed that his men of the operation scorpion squard been detailed to every nook and cranny of the state. The police boss therefore advice and warned parents and guardians to carefully monitor the movement of their wards for them not to fail into the hot waiting hands of the scorpion squad, the names of some criminals arrested for armed robbery on the 28th March 2014 in a petrol station at Awo-omama Oru east of Imo stage, while on robbery operation, according to the CP during exchange of fire, one of the robbers named Levi Iwu fell to the superior fire power of the police. Two locally made pistol with ten live cartridges, one Qlink motorcycle with Reg. No RLU383 of was the items recovered from this group. The names of the suspect were given Chidera Njoku male from Njaba, Onyebuchi Emeka, male from Njaba, late Levi Iwu from Njaba top .
In another development the scorpion squared on 31st march 2014 nabbed a five man gang who specialized in snatching within the eastern state and ferrying same to other parts of the country, the police boss noted that Luck ran against then on 30th March 2014 when they met with their waterloo when the stormed the residence of one Dr. Ishmed.I. Nwabueze, the medical director of a specialist hospital, the group were said to have robbed him of his infinity jeep 2001 model with the Reg. No SSM 457 AA, the scorpion squad intercepted and arrested two of the robbers while others escaped with bullet wounds one infinity jeep 2001 model with Reg. No. SSM 457 AA, two laptops one LCD television and assured types of handset were the items recovered from the group. Their names are given as (1) Ejike Egbuka rom Obibiezema Imo State and Clever Odinaka from Ideato South.
The Cp further disclosed that an 30th March 2014 some criminals snatched a sky blue coloured Toyota Avalon that belong to Mr. Vincent Njoku of No. 3 Njamanze Street Owerri the Vehicle was snatched from this own at sit and servicesa world scorpion squad traced and recovered the car from Aba Abia state. In the same vein the DPO new Owerri divison while on a night patrol with his team recovered a toyta Avalon that was snatched from the owner Mr. Stanley Okedu from Okwudo in Imo State.
