Do I say welcome to Nigeria where things happen for no reason; where bombs explode and instead of finding the culprits, politicians go about rallying for the next election?
Welcome to the country where a man can be shot and no one will be held responsible for that; the same country where millions of Naira will disappear in a government office and no one will be responsible.
This is just Nigeria, a country where the citizens fear for their lives; a country where security votes is used to protect politicians and police officers fearing for their lives with counted bullets are sent out to watch over the masses.
There are so many things that could be used to introduce Nigeria not because nothing good is happening here, but because our leaders are busy singing their praises even things are going wrong in their presence.
So many things have been said since Emmanuel Tochukwu Unegbu [Prince Noe] died on February 4th, 2014 and one thing that has never been said is why he was killed.
Prince Noel as he was fondly called was a United State of America based show promoter who dedicated his life to discovering raw talents and doing the best he could to see that the light of fame shines on them.
He had returned in January to conclude arrangement for the second edition of his talent hunt show, Imo Got Talent an event which was billed to hold on March 8, 2014 and unfortunately he was buried two days before that day.
With the alleged killers rumoured to have left a trail which the police followed, they were apprehended just about 10 days after the young man was killed in hotel room at Rapour Hotels Owerri, the same place ace Nollywood actor, Sam Loco Efe died years back.
It was a sad event for the hotel to provide venue for the deaths of two celebrities, yet I would rather say unfortunate, because no hotelier would ever go for such options.
On February 18, 2014, just 14 days after his death, Imo State Police Command paraded the alleged killers who are both students of Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education Owerri and so many questions have been asked after that. How did they get in his room, and why did they kill Prince Noel?
For how they got in, Eze Charles Nnamdi and Maduabuchi Augustine, who are 22 and 20 years old respectively were said to have come back to the hotel with Prince Noel, which means the hotel security would never be blamed on their entrance to the hotel. This is against the reports and notions that the killers had stormed the hotel on their own that morning before shooting the young man.
For why he was killed, this is a question for Imo State Police Commissioner, Abdulmajid Ali who said the motive of the killing was sensitive at the time the killers were paraded on February 18, 2014. That was why he never made it public.
Look at how the police are wonderful in this country; it took them less than 12 days to catch the alleged killers, but it is taking them more than a month to say why Prince Noel was gruesomely murdered. It is also taking them the same amount of time to take the culprits to court.
No one knows if the culprits are even dead or alive as nothing has been said about them since then.
Recently, a reliable source has it the young men has denied killing Prince Noel and if this is true, why would the same police who got the previous sensitive confession be talking about another confession.
What was the first sensitive confession?
If the culprits really left a trail, how did the trail get to the same hotel room the deceased was staying the night he was murdered and does that mean no staff of Rapour Hotels could identify two people who came in with their guest less 5 hours before he was shot in the hotel.
Who is lying and who is playing games? Does that mean someone somewhere really has interest in the alleged killers and who could they be?
Eze Charles Nnamdi and Maduabuchi Augustine are the only lead to the killers of the Imo Got Talent boss and the Police commissioner owe the public explanation to why he was killed.
This is a call to the governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha to step up and see that justice prevails in this matter.
Sir Jude Ejiogu, the Chief of Staff, Government House, Imo State whom the deceased was said to have good rapour with, should also see that his late friend receives justice.
I don’t want to talk about Imo Got Talent because it seems the only talent needed in the state is to see that certain politicians get their place in various political offices come 2015.
Imo Got Talent could still be a tribute event to the late show promoter, it could still hold if all politicians and friends of the deceased who promised to sponsor the event can step up to it.
If ‘Rest in Peace’ comes in dozes, Emmanuel Tochukwu Unegbu [Prince Noel], would be suffering from its overdose; but what is peace when the killers are still out there feeding well? What is peace when the Police might end up making a statement that will contradict what has already been said when the killers were paraded?
This is simply a question for the Imo State Police Commissioner, Mr Abdulmajid Ali, Why did they kill Prince Noel?
