Imo State is presently heating up internally as she prepares to witness what could be her first real carnival from May 6- 13, 2014.
According to a section of top artistes who threatened to disrupt the event with a protest because none of them has been carried along by the planning committee of the event, if the event holds, without them, it will mean that they do not exist.

Imo State held a carnival last in 2011, when it was organized by Mr. Buchi George and failed to hold it in 2012 and 2013 where dates were actually fixed for the events.
A section of the artistes said the organizing committee was reciprocating the negligence by Governor Rochas Okorocha who has so far turned his back on the plights of Imo State based entertainers.
With what a large number of artistes we contacted are saying, www.otowngist.com can authoritatively say that a protest is imminent and this will be the only way they can make the governor’s deaf ears open up.
“We can never let this happen. We can never let them cheat us again. They have been doing it for years now, but we will use every means possible to stop them, two things are involved; they either recognize us or pack up the event” One of the artistes said.
Although the event is billed to kick today, Tuesday, May 6, 2014, there is rumour that it will be postponed to an unknown date.
We will keep you updated.
