With a group of Imo State artistes in hip-hop and R&B genres forming an association, Imo Contemporary Musician Association [ICMA] recently, members of ICMA and other people who have been following the events closely believe 2014 is a year for change in the music industry of the state.
One of those is the interim president of the association, Mr Chinedu Hardy Nwadike who said the association would shape the future of musician in the state should the members retain the same fighting spirit they have started with.
Hardy revealed that ICMA will not be writing songs for artistes but will see that the faith of its members is made strong on the association and the music industry as well.

“ICMA has been formed to secure the present, and also put the future in the shape it is supposed to be in. We are looking at today but the major project is to see that the industry does not suffer the same thing it had seen in the last decade. We want to shape the future and change a few things that will make it better” He said.
He also revealed that the major challenge would be getting people to believe in the association because of what they have seen with other associations that have folded.
“Getting most people in it would be a chalenge, but I believe success will be the best mode of invitation. When they see we are achieving something for everyone, they will join.
I believe in the movement and even when I would be considered as the newest here, I have lots of experienced artistes around me; which means we can make things work.
I call on other artistes in the state to embrace the movement and see that we make this history together” Hardy added.
Imo Contemporary Musician Association [ICMA] presently has just three members in its interim executive and the other two are Nani Bars of H2O and Still Bill who are Secretary and Public Relations Officer respectively.
ICMA will be holding her next meeting on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at City Chef Restaurant by 4:00pm.
