He said that the entertainment industry has recently been besieged by quackery and incompetence stemming from the fact that it is the only industry that has no visible bottlenecks, adding that anybody that believes he/she has the talent can go into it.
“This has led to a breakdown in the few standing rules and regulation guiding the industry, resulting in the loss of value to and for entertainers and entertainment at large.
Anybody that has access to a laptop and with a DJ software installed in it now goes about with the title ‘DJ’ attached to his nickname without learning the skills and rudiments of the trade, leaving the trade at a near bankrupt state”
He then called for the resurrection of the dignity of the trade, saying it is a challenge they will have to come together to fight.
Speaking during the inauguration, the acting National President of PRODJAN, Mr Tade Adeyemi aka DJ Cool charged members of Imo State chapter and their executives to be steadfast, working hard to see that the association is sustained in the state.
DJ Cool hailed the efforts of veteran Imo State DJ, DJ VickyLee who kept DJs in the state together for years, urging the inaugurated excos to emulate him and also go to him for advice when necessary.
Legendary DJ Jimmy Jat who is also the president of PRODJAN in Lagos State, called on the members to support the president, saying that his failure will mean the failure of the entire state chapter.
The Vice President of Imo State PRODJAN, DJ Blaze McBede who spoke to us after the event, thanked God for the success of the event, wishing delegates from others states journey mercies.
The event had DJs from around the country as well as other stake holders of the music industry in attendant.
