History was made on Thursday, August 07, 2014 when Imo State Contemporary Musicians Association [ICMA] haeld her first general election at City Chef Restaurant Owerri, Imo State.
ICMA which started months ago is the body housing Hip-Hop, R&B, Afro Pop, other contemporary genres aside Gospel and traditional genres like Bongo and high-life.
Chinedu Hardy Nwadike who was previously serving as the interim president of the association returned as the president having won producer cum rapper, Yung Roc in a well-contested election.
Other winners are Okoro Ikechukwu aka Money Making, Vice President; Goodtims Opara aka G-Tims, Secretary; Kelechi Ibe of Dtwins, Assistant Secretary; Okoroafor Chidinma aka Amarula, Financial Secretary; Oriaku Chijioke aka Noc D, Treasurer; Climax, Provost 2; Cyracus Ibe of Dtwins, Provost 1 and Winner C. Oparanozie aka W.Spicy , Welfare.
Speaking on behalf of the newly elected excos, Hardy thanked members of ICMA who turned out en masse to vote and urged them to keep up with the peaceful atmosphere they have created so far in the association.
He also promised to the see that their three-year tenure in association will yields good fruits urging the entire house to support them in their new adventure.
“ICMA belongs to all us and everything we can achieve will be for us. We have been loyal to this association and will remain until the end of our tenure.
We have made history today and are still ready to make more. We will work towards making our association relevant in the state and this we can achieve with togetherness, hence our motto, Unity and Progress” He said.
Hardy on behalf ICMA thanked the owners and management of City Chef Restaurant for their support to the association by providing a venue that has seen the association grow to the level it is.
“There are some gifts that words cannot be enough for their gratitude, but we know that we owe the management of City Chef Restaurant and that debt will surely be repaid with goodness and prayers that they grow from strength to strength” Hardy added.
At the moment, ICMA still holds her general meetings on Thursdays at City Chef Restaurant Owerri, Imo State by 4:00pm and more artistes are still welcomed to the meeting.
