Governance has been described as a calling for serious minded and service oriented people and not for Emperors and mediocres.
This assertion was made by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant and President, Pan African Parliament, Rt. Hon. Bethel Amadi last week Saturday during his sensitization tour to Okigwe and Onuimo LGAs.

The Akabo, Ikeduru born politician representing Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, decried the untold hardship and economic stagnation the Owelle Rochas Okorocha led administration has brought upon the people of Imo State, some of which are the sale of Imo Concord Hotel, Imo Transport Company, all the government owned hospitals, the 20 years lease of Adapalm and many others.
Hear him, “Governance is a calling for serious minded and service oriented people and not for Emperors and mediocres, therefore Imo people should elect only credible candidate that will lead Imolites aright. Creation of enabling environment should be the priority of any sincere government” He continued  “Governor Rochas Okorocha has pocketed the 250 Million Naira Imo State University Subvention fund; which has also resulted in the under-grading of the university in Nigeria. Imo people need be told the truth that the so-called free education claim by Okorocha is a Federal Government policy of 2006 Universal Basic Education Board (UBEB), a law stipulating that every Nigerian child is entitled to a compulsory 9 years free education. The Okorocha’s so-called free education lacks quality and standard compared to other existing universities in the country.”
He commended the PDP faithfuls of Okigwe and Onuiom for their steadfastness irrespective of the government in power’s destabilization of the LGA system and admonished them to base their choice of selection of PDP candidates on credibility, loyalty to the party and service to the people.
In what looked like a prophetic speech, Hon Simon Anyanwuchukwu proclaimed Hon. Bethel as the next Governor of Imo State and requested that Okigwe and Onuimo shun sentiment and reciprocate Hon. Bethel’s support to their sons Sen. Ararume and Chief Ikedi Ohakim come 2015 governorship pull. He promised his unflinching support for Bethel to Douglas House and maintained that gone are the days of clannish politics; therefore, delegates should be wise in their choice of candidates during the party’s primaries.
Prof. Nnamdi Obiareri, Okigwe zone PDP Senatorial aspirant expressed confidence in Bethel Amadi’s leadership skills to provide good governance come 2015 if given the mandate.
Earlier in his remarks, the Director-General of Bethel Amadi Campaign Organisation (BACO), Barr. C.M.C Onuoha averred that the leadership exposure of Rt. Hon. Bethel both internationally and otherwise is a sure bet that Imo State will record massive transformation under his quality leadership.
Adding his voice, the Okigwe zone Co-odinator of Bethel Amadi Campaign Organisation (BACO), High Chief Max Ikeokwu remarked “Rt. Hon. Bethel Amadi is a humble, experienced leader who believes in collectiveness, which he has exemplified by his visit to solicit the support of Okigwe people. He has been a reliable friend to Okigwe people since 2007, and now it’s our turn to show him love”
Lending his voice in support  of the visit Hon. Prince Sly Chubueze acknowledged the lawmaker as a time conscious man who values the importance of time and therefore can deliver; as most failed projects in Nigeria can be traced to failure in time management.
Others who spoke were Owerri Zonal Co-odinator of (BACO) Hon. C. D Williams, Barr. Charles Babatunde, Mrs. Ann Nwagboso, Mr. Henry Nwachi, DR. F.C Anokwa,
Others in attendance who spoke at the well-attended occasion were the Onuimo PDP LGA Chairman Hon. Sampson Eze, Okigwe PDP LGA Chairman, Hon. Sunny Ngukwe, Chief Fidel Onyeneke, President General of Onuimo, Hon. Victor Amanwune, Chief Paul Ogujiofor and many others.
Climax of the tour experienced a dramatic cross-carpet of a former APC faithful, Chief Friday Ukaigwe  who said he was touched by the roll call of the numerous achievements of the prospective Imo governor, Rt. Hon. Bethel Amadi and he prophesed his newly found love for PDP.
