True to our exposition last Tuesday December 9, 2014 edition that Senator Hope Uzodinma brokered an agreement with Ex-Governor Ikedi Ohakim, to support the laters emergence of as PDP governorship flag bearer in the 2015 election in Imo State, on condition that Ohakim pays a whopping sum of N1Billion, a fight is said to be brewing between the aforementioned duo over the deal.
Out of the sum, our reporters were informed, N800Million was allegedly paid to Senator Hope Uzodinma cash, leaving a balance of N200M agreed to be paid at the end of the primary election, if he successfully persuade delegates from Orlu zone to vote massively for Ohakim.
However the result of the election showed that Ohakim failed woefully and was placed a distant 3rd. This is despite the instruction and directive by Senator Hope Uzodinma that all Orlu delegates must vote for enblock Ikedi Ohakim. However the result of the National Assembly Primary election previously conducted in Orlu zone during which some of Senator Hope Uzodinma confidants were defeated, threw up some discontent with those said to be his sacrificial lambs, protesting and rebelling against him. In this group of rebellion include Udenwa’s Camp, Chief Asiwaju Jerry Alagbaso who was the only House of Representative member in Orlu Zone who stood by Senator Hope Uzodinma through thick and thin especially throughout his trial times during the 2011 election, that culminated in a lingering legal tussle up to the Supreme Court of Nigeria where he finally claimed victory.
The Gerald Irona factor from the Ohaji/Egbema/Oguta axis whose return like that of Alagbaoso was alleged to have been frustrated by Senator Hope Uzodinma and the Chief ThankGod Ezeani group who parades a good number of delegates as well as that of another victims of Senator Hope Uzodinma’s willful manipulation in the person of Hons. Obinna Okwara and Grey Okemili who felt that since the party had deliberately ditched them; they must cut their own pound of flesh at the Governorship Primary election, which must draw blood.
They also accused Hope Uzodinma of keeping to himself the entire N800M earlier offered by Godson Ikedi Ohakim to buy Orlu delegates over. A close source to Ex-Governor Ikedi Ohakim, who confided in the Community Watchdog, disclosed that a currently bitter, frustrated and aggrieved Ikedi Ohakim is determined to recover the entire N800M intact. His regret is the mistake of not having spent the said amount directly on the delegates instead of the resort of trusting in the Godfathers, through which he would have beaten the other aspirants, blue and black. Overwhelmed and traumatized at the turn of events which they hardly anticipated, a Campaign Director of Senator Hope Uzodinma, one Barr. Rex Anunuobi while writing under the aegis of Orlu Political Consultive Forum (OPOCA) in a petition to PDP National Chairman, announced their rejection of PDP Guber Primary Result in Imo State and called for its immediate cancelation. They accused the Barr. Nnamdi Anyachie led EXCO of usurping the functions of the supervising Electoral Panel sent from Abuja by the National Working Committee (NWC) of PDP. According to Barr. Rex Anunobi, Chief Stamfor Nwankwo and Barr. Eugene Dibiagwu as signatories to the petition, “a situation where the State Chairman of the Party, Barr. Nnamdi Anyaehie took over the functions of accreditation of delegates, calling out delegates for voting, sorting and collation, counting of votes and announcement of results, all solely to himself is unacceptable and must be rejected”.
OPOCA acknowledged that Barr. Nnamdi Anyaehie had compromised on the self acclaimed integrity for which his late father was renowned, as evidenced by the recorded over-voting which turned out to be above the total number of accredited delegates just by the number with which Emeka Ihedioha was announced to had topped Distinguished Senator Ifeanyi Araraume. “A situation where the total number of accredited delegates put at 1064, total number of votes cast is 1017, total number of void votes which were 11 and total number of valid votes were put at 1006, calls for thorough rejection especially when it is realized that the total number of votes obtained by the aspirants as announced by the committee, far exceeds the total number of votes cast by 21 votes”, OPOCA uttered.
In another development, the Orlu Integrity Group comprising leaders of former legislative councils and some other well known political leaders in Orlu zone has flayed Senator Hope Uzodinma for his criminally induced support for Ikedi Ohakim and reported coercion of Orlu delegates to vote for a discredited ex-Governor, Ikedi Ohakim who could not use his God’s given opportunity between 2007 and 2011, to advance Imo state on the path of development. According to the leader of the group, Rt. Hon. Eugene Okorie who was a leader of Orlu legislative council, “though Senator Hope Uzodinma is entitled to support anyone at the primary election, our grouse and embitterment is the attempt by the said Uzodinma to coerce the delegates to vote for Ikedi Ohakim against their will”. He condemned those parading as leaders of OPOCA but who apart from being cronies of Senator Hope Uzodinma, only exist in his kitchen and have come to represent OPOCA as a platform for job seekers and parasites”. Senator Hope Uzodinma according to the Orlu integrity group only supported Ikedi Ohakim for his selfish interest above the collective interest of the people of Orlu zone, at best he sees Ikedi as one who would protect his political abracadabra, including the several accusation in several quarters of his preference for mediocre and semi illiterates. Okorie finally stated, “Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha remains the best and god has answered the prayers of Imo people”. He concluded.
