The Isiala Mbano mandate group yesterday endorsed the All Progressives Congress candidate for the February 14th senatorial lection and the Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu for senate.
The multi partisan group, whose members cut across various political parties and leanings in the local government area, at the end of its meeting held at the residence of a People Democratic Party stalwart, Chief Aloysius Odubam, passed a vote of confidence on the Speaker, saying that having done well in the state Assembly and gained the required experience for legislation and representation, he should be promoted to represent the zone in red chambers of the National Assembly to enable him legislate for the overall development of the area.
The prominent Isiala Mbano leader, at the meeting include: Chief Stamford Okoro, Aloysius Odubam, Emeka Allans, Chief Victor Mbagwu, Chief kingsley Nwachukwu, Chief Kingsley Ogbuagu, Chief Louis Ugwunali, Chief Tete Ndubuaku and Chief John Maranzu. Others are: Chief Emma Mba, Chief Franklin Chukwuemeka Ibe, Obinna Onuegbu, and Chief Obijiaku, amongst other hundreds of supporters.
The Isiala Mbano mandate leaders stressed the need for continuity of the life changing programmes and the adoption of the Rt. Hon. Speaker’s articulated blue-print for overall development of Okigwe zone, saying that all Okigwe sons and daughters who support and appreciate good work must support the candidature.
The group pledged their total support for Uwajumogu’s senatorial bid on what they described as the unprecedented achievements of Speaker, since he came on board in 2011, which the body said has transformed the zone beyond their expectation.
The group while lauding Uwajumogu, for fulfilling the promised he made to Isiala Mbano people, as well as empowering and facilitating contracts for indigenes of the area, adding that he had the experience and capacity to lead the people of Okigwe into their promised land.
Reacting on the endorsement of the Mandate group, the Speaker, Imo state House of Assembly and the APC candidate, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu, described the Isiala Mbano mandate group as an apex socio-political group that has worked for the collective interest and development of Okigwe people.
While promising to give the best service to Isiala Mbano people if elected, the Speaker assured them of his zeal to work for the completion of projects embarked upon by the present government and attract new ones in other to realize his vision of converting Isiala Mbano as the economic hub of Okigwe zone.
