An erudite scholar and former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Chief Professor Francis Dike , Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) has advised female political leaders in the state to give respect to women by pursing and defending the truth and tackle issues of public concern and not personalities.
Professor Dike who was reacting to recent vituperations and press attack by Professor Adaobi Obasi and some other APC women on the Junior Minister for Education, Professor Viola Onwuliri who he said did not cause harm by only bringing to limelight some of the projects executed by the Jonathan’s administration in Imo state. He observed that it is in the place of women as mothers to tell the truth and to scold their sons anytime they tell lies adding that the Imo state government had lied to the Imolites that the twin storey classrooms blocks were her own projects.
The Legal luminary stated that what Professor Onwuliri did was only to showcase the dividends of democracy gained by the state through the Jonathan’s administration and expressed surprise that even the law faculty of Imo State University where he lectures were the handiwork of the Federal government adding that instead of reprimand, the Minister should be eulogized.
He argued that if anything is needed, it would have been for Governor Rochas Okorocha to resign for lying on oath by telling Imolites that those projects were his own making, arguing that in other civilized societies, such lies are enough for the public officer to resign.
Professor Dike advised Professor Obasi that instead of engaging on personality attack, she should go out to showcase and market all the tangible or visible projects executed by the Owelle administration and not to attack the person of the Minister.
He also stated that other PDP leaders should follow the footsteps of Prof. Viola Onwuliri and highlight the projects of the Goodluck administration in Imo state in order to garner support for his second term bid.
He recalled his recent comments on the Jonathan Administration and the second Niger Bridge which was published in the Community Watchdog Newspaper and stated that the President has started work on the project which is moving at fast speed meaning that President Goodluck Jonathan is a listening leader.
Professor Dike who stated that he has put in a total of 48 years as lecturer, berated South East political leaders who only go to Abuja in search of personal wealth at the detriment of the good of the society and the common man.
He also challenged the youths of today for not making any effort to contribute their quota to the growth and development of the society as was by generations before them.
He lamented that the present generation of youths and students instead of working hard to contribute their quota through discoveries and inventions use guns and computers developed by previous generations to destroy the present society.
