The chances of the Gubernatored candidate of the Labour Party in Imo State, Barr. Ngozi Olehi in the forth coming general elections got a boost with the adoption of a support group of President Jonathan, the booth to booth initiative.
The group had in a letter to the effect sent to the special adviser to the President on political affairs, stated that it took consideration of its principal Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, his re-election bid and the support and endorsement of other friendly parties as well as that of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The group known as “The booth to booth initiative is committed to the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan and continuity of the transformation agenda stated that in arriving at the decision to adopt Barr. Ngozi Olehi, it took a holistic assessment of the candidates of other political parties and the crisis ravaging the PDP in Imo State.
They said that they took the step taking close look at the crisis, surrounding the PDP primaries and the current legal battle between Senator Ifeanyi Araraume and Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha.
The letter stated “In order to activate our fundamental objective of ensuring Jonathan’s re-election and furthering the gains of transformation agenda in Imo State, we resorted to look beyond PDP and into the friendly parties in getting a gubernatorial candidate that would fit into our ideals, the parties included APGA and Labour Party”.
In the letter addressed to the candidate and dated January 28, 2015, which was endorsed by the State Executive of the group, the people, the Ngor-Okpala born lawyer as an honest God fearing and highly responsible man.
