Governor Okorocha and his deputy and running mate, Prince Eze Madumere, last weekend got a boost to their re-election bid from Madumere’s homestead.
At Lake Malinda, the kinsmen and women of Ezii community, the cradle of Imo Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere in full support of Governor with their son, Prince Madumere’s re-election bid has made a total cash donation of over N1million naira.
Speaking at the event, the President General, Mrs. Joy Akalazu of the women wing of Ezzi Autonomous Community, which began the patriotic gesture, said they are not supporting Prince Madumere because he is their son and the deputy governor of Imo State but linked their total support for his stewardship to the people of Ezii even before his sojourn into politics.
The Woman leader further disclosed HRH, Eze Henry Anoruo Madumere’s third son’s love for peace, which she said has remained green in everyone’s heart.” We love him not because of his present political position but because he is a good son who sacrificed everything to achieve peace. Till date, he has remained on that path not minding whose of is gored. He does it with every humility, simplicity while observing every mores of our people. It is because of this rare character of his that we are not only supporting him by proclamation, we are also doing so with our substances. That is why we are donating today”.
Lolo Akalazu further called on the women to give their son hundred percent votes at all levels -from presidency down to House of Assembly. She express excitement saying the women are ready for the election and will even play a role to ensuring free and fair election.
Meanwhile, the men were not left out as they in a bid to outdo the women also gave handsomely in support of their son and Gov. Okorocha. They Ezii men through their President General, Chief Earnest Duru averred that Prince Madumere as their illustrious son deserves all the sacrifice because of his good nature saying he is a son who always look into the affairs of his people even at home. He als remarked that despite his position in government, he has remained cool headed and respectful to his elders and people in general. He however showered encomium on Governor Okorocha for the confidence and trust he reposed in Prince Madumere and for also finding him worthy for various appointments in Imo State Government. And speaking for the men, he said, he should not bother campaigning in Ezii as they will deliver at all levels for All Progressives Congress.
He therefore called on all their children to bury their different interest if there be any and focus on their son, Prince Madumere as a project. He also called on other f their children who have interest in one position or the other in different parties to drop such and support a bigger project for Okorocha and Madumere victory. The men also made donations to support and encourage their son, which the President General described as offering bond in total sport of Prince Madumere.
Speaking earlier, the number two citizen of Imo State told his people that he had not come to campaign but to formerly tell them he was in a joint race with Governor Okorocha for 2015 guber election. In his testimony, he narrated how Gov. Okorocha has shown regard and love for Mbaitoli LGA as a whole by appointing their son as his Chief of Staff and later his deputy without asking anything in return. He further enumerated the giant strides of Rescue Mission in Mbaitoli Local government Area. He also reminded them came to them in 2011 canvassing for votes for any elective post but rather canvassed toes for his boss, Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha.
He therefore admonished them that the only way they could show appreciation to Governor Okorocha is not only voting him but voting All Progressives Congress candidates at all levels. He also thanked both the men and women wing for their kind gesture by their donations and promised to take their message of gratitude and support to Governor Okorocha.
