Prof. JBN Nnadozie first Nigerian Professor of Optometry and one of the strongest pillars of Governor Okorocha in Nkwerre LGA has stated that the just concluded re-run election was between the Governor and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He maintained that, if the election was free and fair, abinitio there is no way any candidate including that of PDP, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha would have scored any number of votes close to what Governor Rochas Okorocha whom he described as the People’s Governor scored, at the election, considering the unprecedented achievements of the Governor within the past four years of his Rescue Mission Administration.
Prof. Nnadozie who is a university don and the foremost community leader of Amaokpara Autonomous Community in Nkwerre LGA, wondered how INEC could score the PDP candidate who only won in 7 local government area a total of 305, 000 votes while the APC candidate who won in 20 LGAs only got 379, 000 votes. According to him, it took the commitment of the people in ensuring that the people’s mandate was not short changed otherwise INEC would have pronounced their preferred candidate, Emeka Ihedioha as the winner. ”We all saw what happened, I can tell you, if not for the manipulations perpetrated by PDP agents, no candidate will get up to 10% of Okorocha’s votes”. He further stated that, “democracy has come to stay in Nigeria and that the era of writing results from people’s residents is gone. This time around” As he exclaimed, the politicians must learn to be closer to the people if they must win elections and remain politically relevant.
