According to the Diocesan Youth Work Coordinator, Rev. Foster Ogbodo, the event offered the youths an opportunity to reflect on the meaning of Easter and the real value of the sacrifice made by our Lord Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary.
Rev. Ogbodo further sad that the theme of the programme which is ‘A living Sacrifice’ will also prepare the youths into understanding the importance of making themselves available for the work of God.
“We taught them how to make themselves available for God and also how to remain steadfast in the work of God. There is nothing better for a youth in the world today than to serve God and the programme is one place we prepare our youths for the work ahead.
“We had anointed men of God speaking at the programme and the testimony we have received so far shows we have not wasted our time.
It is an annual exercise, but this year’s retreat is an exception because we felt the presence of the Holy Spirit more than ever.
I want to thank God because it has come and gone, and we pray that the impact of the Holy Spirit on our members will remain” Rev. Ogbodo said.
Expressing his gratitude, the Diocesan Youth President, Bro. Obum Nwodo, thanked everyone who attended the programme and praised the Diocesan Bishop, Rt. Rev. Dennis Mark for his support towards the actualization of the programme.
He charged the youths of the diocese to remain committed to the activities of the fellowship, promising a better outing come August 2015 when the Diocesan Youths will be attending their annual youth convention at St. Silas Methodist Church Orji, Owerri North LGA of Imo State.
“God has done it for us and we hope to carry the anointing forward to our next outing in Orji 2015. We are grateful to our resource persons, the host presbyter, Very Rev. Oguamalam, the planning committee, our coordinator and the delegates. Our blessings will remain always, in Jesus name” he said.
On Friday April 3, 2015, the youths embarked on an evangelism rally around Awalla where they sensitized people on the need to be born again.
Guest ministers at the event included Pastor Jarlath O., Evangelist Joe Udaki and Rev. Uche Akoma.
