Information reaching Campus Voice desk assert that following a meeting between the state government and the school management on Wednesday 20th May, it was resolved that the school Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) should suspend their strike action.
It would be recalled that Imo State University have been on strike for two weeks owning to the refusal of the state government to pay its workers their salary dating back to three months.
Speaking, a member of the school who also was present at the meeting told Campus Voice that though they have suspended the strike albeit on trust that the union will not hesitate to embark on strike action again should the state government not comply with the agreement of both parties.
The man who pleaded anonymity regretted why they had to trust the state government for two previous months thinking that they will be paid before the third month elapses but it was never in tandem with reality as the third month finished without a dime in their pockets.
It is on this note and development that the school has asked its students to start rushing down for lectures as soon as possible.
Though rumours has it that the strike have not been suspended but Campus Voice can lucidly confirm to you that academic activities have begun in earnest at the campus and any student who wastes his/her time staying at home henceforth will have his/herself to blame.
