With the tenure of the Chief Sir Innocent Igwe led Imo State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ), gradually coming to an end, prospective aspirants wishing to contest for offices into the council, have been requested to indicate their interest in vying for any of the available positions by collecting their nomination forms at the NUJ Press Centre, Owerri.

In a release dated April 21, 2015, and signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the Credentials and Screening Committee on behalf of the state council of NUJ, Mr. Lambert Ojukwu and Sunny Ejiogu, respectively, the committee listed such available positions which are to be contested to include, that of the State Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Financial Secretary, Treasurer and Auditor.
According to the release all those interested in any of the aforementioned executive positions, should endeavour to collect their nomination forms at the NUJ Press Centre, along Port Harcourt Road, Owerri and submit same within two weeks of the publication which took effect from April 22, 2015.
It stated further that the office of the Secretary Screening Committee of Imo NUJ will remain open to prospective aspirants or contestants between hours of 10.00AM and 2PM each day except on Sundays through out the duration of the screening. It will be recalled that almost 3 years ago, Chief Sir Innocent Igwe was elected Chairman of Imo NUJ along with Chief Chris Akaraonye as the State Secretary and Miss Juliet Dim of IBC Owerri as Treasurer. However not all offices will be contested for this time, around except for those already mentioned herein.
