Singer Ugwa Uchechukwu Francis aka Skutch has denied owing anyone any form apology as he is set to release the Part 2 of a song he previously did with DJ DCT. The first song which was titled ‘Give Am Belle’ was credited to DJ DCT featuring Skutch, but the Ibonge crooner come Monday July 13, 2015 will be releasing the what he titled the ‘Part 2’ of the song without DJ DCT in it.
According to Skutch, the first song was his concept and lyrics but just because DJ DCT was the one who requested for the collaboration, he had to let the former Zanders FM Owerri DJ have the lion share of the credit.
He went ahead to say that DJ DCT was aware of the song he was doing but only begged him to give the first one some time, which he thinks he has done.
“I spoke with DCT last year and I don’t see anything wrong with doing the song this year after many months. I don’t have issues with DJ DCT, the whole issue is coming from Yung Roc who produced the first track. He felt he should be getting credit for the second one, but this a different case and it doesn’t work like that for me”, Skutch said.
On the hand DJ DCT is saying otherwise even though he did not deny having spoken to Skutch last year. He said Skutch should not have done the song, adding that the singer and Yung Roc are just making him the grass in their elephant fight.
He said, “They are making me a victim of their fight. Whatever personal issues they have between them should never have affected me. Skutch should never have rerecorded my song in order to get at Yung Roc.
I won’t be saying much for now; I will only watch and see what happens next”
Skutch however said he won’t be going into details as regards to his issues with Yung Roc, but went ahead to said that the producer is the one orchestrating the stories around the city of Owerri that he stole DJ DCT’s song.
“Rock is just angry because I didn’t come to him again. He should understand that I am no longer in Owerri and won’t always work with him.
Anyone who listened to the first song will understand that I did almost all the verses, that’s because I wrote them, if I decide to use my intellectual property elsewhere because I feel it will profit me more, I don’t see anything wrong with it and I don’t owe anyone any form of apology for doing so”, Skutch added.
Meanwhile, music producer Yung Roc has cited anger as the reason for every part he is playing the issue. According him, cheating is something he will never support of and for anyone to take advantage of another person because they are in the position to do so or they have the money to back themselves up is very wrong.
Although he didn’t speak on any personal issues with Skutch, he said that he wrote the first song and does not see any reason why Skutch will be claiming to have written the song. He said that such acts have gone a long way in tarnishing the image of Owerri as a section of the music industry in Nigeria.
In another development, Skutch claimed that he spoke to DJ DCT, yesterday, Friday July 11, 2015 and even though it wasn’t a positive discussion, he still explained to the DJ why the new song will benefit all parties.
DJ DCT on the other hand, has sent out a Blackberry broadcast urging bloggers and radio stations to staying away from the Monday July 13, 2015 bound track because it has violated copyright rules and regulations. Even at that, Skutch is going on to release his song, saying that there’s no going back for him, no matter what anyone says or does.
Some bloggers have already released the song.
