Imo Government has expressed its readiness to host 2015 Federation of Public Service Games slated for the month of November 2015.
This was made known by Imo State Governor today who was represented by his deputy, Prince Eze Madumere at Imo State Government House during the unveiling ceremony of the Official Mascot of the event, which kicks-off in November 2015. Prince Madumere who described the unveiling ceremony as monumental since it is the first time Imo State will be participating in the event as it had neither participated nor hosted any of the editions in the past.
The sports loving Imo Deputy Governor said that sports has been identified as the most effective ways of recreation and unification in the human society, as it also provides a veritable method to keeping body and soul prepared for the task of building a more productive human system for a strong bureaucracy. He therefore called on the workers to maximize the gains of the games.
Speaking further, Governor Okorocha through his deputy used the opportunity to call on Nigerians to support President Buhari in his effort to bring change to every facets of the polity.
Speaking earlier, National President of Federation of Public Service Games FEPSGA Barr, Dahiru Hassan said that the yearly event which was established in 1980 by the Head of State of the Federation has major objectives of producing a mentally fit public servant that would lead to maximum productivity. Hassan said that this year’s event would involve 14 games which include football, handball, table tennis; indoor and outdoor games among other would start from 30th November and end in second week of December 2015.
He said that all public servants from the 36 states including the Federal Capital Territory sports club in the federal ministries, agencies and department would participate except professional players.
