Emeka Ike has dissolved Conac’s regime – Mopol

Mopol wants to lead without ballot – Conac

Mr. Chikodi Nwafor (aka Mopol) who was suspended by the Mr. Umez Chibueze Nnanna popularly known as Umez Conac’s led administration of Imo State Chapter of Actors Guild of Nigeria [AGN] has insisted that he cannot be suspended by an illegitimate regime.

Reports emerged yesterday Tuesday, October 27, 2015 that Mr. Nwafor and his associates have been suspended by the state chapter of AGN over what it referred to as Anti Guild involvements, urging the public not to deal with them in the name of the guild or Nollywood.

According to Mopol whom alongside Chucks Christo, Okey Anozie, Ogali E. Ogali, Apostle Clin, Ogwa Na Ogwa, Tony Chikere, Impi Amarachi and two others were suspended through a notice confirmed to have been written by Mr. Umez C. Conac, and which was being shared on social yesterday, there is no way he and his comrades will be suspended because before now, the Ambassador Emeka Ike led national leadership of the guild had dissolved the same state executive that is saying he has been suspended.

He said: “AGN you’re seeing today [in Imo State] is me. There is nothing like AGN, Conac has been dissolved and also suspended. Their government has also been dissolved by the national president Emeka Ike”

He then urged everyone to shun Mr. Umez as the AGN chairman in the state, threatening to make public the letter that dissolved the regime.

Meanwhile, Mr. Umez C. Conac said that the reason why the group was suspended is because they formed a parallel leadership against his government and it is not acceptable.

“Mopol formed a parallel Imo AGN exco against the existing executive led by me that has not served out our tenure and was asking me to come and hand over to him.

“He wants to lead the people without the ballot forgetting I have the people’s mandate which I must protect” Mr. Umez said.

So far, both parties are still holding their territories, insisting on total surrender of the other and it will likely take something like the intervention of the state governor to save the guild just like he did last time.

Further investigation revealed that the fracas is being instigated by the tussle at the national level of the guild which has seen the Ibinabo Fibersima lock horns with the faction led by Emeka Ike.

According to our source the case between Ibinabo Fibersima and Emeka Ike over who will lead the guild is still pending in the court but their followers are already creating divisions around the various states of the country while trying to please their masters.

With Mr. Umez Conac having the backing of Ibinabo Fibersima who has been a longtime ally, Mr. Chikodi Nwafor (aka Mopol) we learnt is working Emeka Ike and what is happening in Imo State AGN is just the replication of the national leadership tussle.

According to some neutral members of the guild we spoke to, the leadership tussle will end up being the case of ‘when two elephants are fighting’ and they will be the grass to suffer. They called on both parties to find a common ground and settle their differences for the betterment of the guild in the state.

“Imo State has been known for this unstable leadership issue and it has always been between the same people. Instead of this battle, they should focus on talent development to insure that the movie industry of the state moves to another level”, the member said.
