This coming Thursday, Amazi Umunakanu Owerre Ehime Mbano will experience the presence of top Imo politicians and socialites who will be storming from all walks of life to witness the burial ceremony of Ezinna Bartholomew Njoku; the father of Imo-based blogger and political mobilizer, Ifeanyi CY Njoku.
Ezinna Bartholomew who died at the age of 80 will be laid to final rest in his country home of Amazi after a funeral service at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church on Thursday, November 19, 2015.
Condoling with the Njoku’s family is the Imo State Government who wrote through the office of the Chief of Staff, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu. He described Pa. Njoku’s transition as a call to higher service having finished his earthly course.
“Your father’s sojourn on earth was not only eventful but was marked with concrete achievements, longevity and good health which enabled him to attain the ripe age of celebration.”
Admitting to know how it is for one to lose his father, the immediate past Deputy Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha noted that Cy’s father died when his support is most needed.
“As Christians, we celebrate the lives and times of those who dedicated their energy in the service of God and humanity, for which I am confident your father qualified. I sincerely commiserate with you at this solemn moment and join your family in praying for the repose of his soul,” he prayed.
Noting that he was a devout Christian who lived a life of service to God, his community and humanity in general, the former governor of Imo state, Dr. Ikedi Ohakim further described him as a role model and a good family man who brought up his children in the fear and knowledge of God.
The distinguished Senators representing Imo North and East Senatorial districts, Senators Athan Nneji Acholonu and Sam Nnaemeka Anyanwu all recognized themselves with the Njoku’s family through their condolence letters, while they urged the family to bear the loss.
It is expected that all those who wrote to the family will be present to witness the burial rites.
Also, the deputy governor of Imo state, Prince Eze Madumere, the member representing Pa Njoku’s constituency at the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Chike Okafor, the former Speaker of the Imo state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu and the Ambassador, Pan African Parliament, Rt. Hon.
