The senatorial candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and former Speaker, Imo state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Benjamin Uwajumogu, has committed to advancing an economic and political package that will engender development in all autonomous communities of the zone.

He also promised massive employment for the teeming youths, whom he said would form the fulcrum of his administration if elected. He revealed that Okigwe zonal people would be at the centre of all his decisions and actions.

Addressing a mammoth crowd, comprising the Clergy, Traditional Rulers, Youths and Women from Ihitte-Uboma local government area, Uwajumogu, said the time has come for the area to break the age long jinx of producing an Okigwe senator, noting that since the country’s return to democracy in 1960, unlike Ehime Mbano local governments area, where his opponent came from, nobody from Ihitte-Uboma, has had the opportunity to represent the zone in the senate.

The senatorial hopeful, who used the event to list out his achievements in the area of education, health, agriculture, rural road network, rural electrification, housing, infrastructural development and legislation, said he was being motivated to go to the senate to bring development and make a difference in the lives of Okigwe people, while giving everybody a sense of belonging.

He therefore charged the people to troop out en masse to vote for APC, noting that it will amount to great disservice, if the zone loses the opportunity to produce the only APC, senator of Southeast descent in the 8th senate, stressing that an APC senator who would naturally become a member various caucuses of the ruling party will be strategically positioned to attract unprecedented development to the zone and as well connect the zone to national politics of the country.
