Imo Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere in company Imo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Taiwo Lakanu raided the den of suspected criminals along popular Douglas Road near Eke-Ukwu Owerri where some suspects were arrested.
Speaking to the newsmen shortly after the arrest, Prince Madumere said on the invitation of the Commissioner of Police, he had joined them to see for himself one of the notorious flash points of suspected notorious gangs who were alleged to be the masterminds of the robbery activities and other crimes in the area.
He assured the people of Imo State of the Rescue Mission Administration led by Governor Okorocha of the her resolve to work with Police and other relevant security agencies to ensure that Imo State remains the most peaceful and safest State in the country.
In a bid to nip in the bud the activities of the marauders around the area, he disclosed the intention of the government is to retrieve the property from the original owner who accommodated the gangs whose son is one of those cooling his feet in the police custody. They suspects are alleged to be those behind phone and ladies’ hand bags snatching, rape, drug peddling and other violent crimes against innocent and law abiding residents of Imo State.
In the same vein, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Taiwo Lakano established that the spot in question is one of the established black spot in the Imo State. He regretted that several arrests have been carried out in the area and taken to the court but surprisingly, their activities have remained unabated.
He assured that the Police will continue to try its best to ensure that Imo State is secure for people to be free to ply their lawful trades without any fear of molestation.
Meanwhile, hard drugs like marijuana, narcotics and other instruments for drug uses were found. Three suspects were after frantic effort say the police to ward off dangerous looking dogs positioned to scare those trailing them to the den.
