As the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Imo state prepares for its congress at the wards, LGA and state levels this month April, 2016, Chieftain of the party in the state, and former council boss for Mbaitoli LGA, Chief Rufus Osueke, has informed that, there is no crisis rocking the party leadership, rather, members of the party are naturally jostling for positions/offices.
Speaking last week in Owerri, Chief Osueke, said that contrary to media reports that, the PDP is battling for supremacy, what is currently going on in the party is a healthy development where qualified members contest for control of the soul of the party as one of the largest political parties in Africa.
Also, expressing hope that the party will bounce back to power in 2019, given harsh economic policies by the APC-led government at the centre, under President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Rochas Okorocha in Imo State, Osueke posited that, pre-election opinion poll by the people indicated failure for the PDP government ahead of 2011, even as he added that such situation shall repeat itself on the side of the APC-government in 2019.
He, however, advocated maximum support for the PDP’s charter of equity which tells more on the zoning of the governorship seat among the three geo-political zones in the state, as Osueke maintained that, Owerri zone is due to produce governor of the state come 2019.
