Leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC in the three council areas of Mbaise have declared war on the Chief Press Secretary to Gov. Rochas Okorocha, Mr. Sam Onwuemeodo, Commissioner for Information, Chief Chidi Ibe and erstwhile Commissioner for Transport, Barr. Iheukwumere Alaribe over alleged unwarranted attacks, insults and public ridicule of the office and person of Chief Hillary Eke, state chairman of the party, who is also an Mbaise son.
The leaders of the party who converged under the umbrella of Mbaise APC Leaders Association at Umuokirika, Ekwereazu, Ahiazu Mbaise Council Area last Sunday also made it loud and clear that they would no longer sit back, fold their hands and watch those they described as the enemies of Mbaise APC publicly insult and ridicule the state party boss again.
As a way of underlining the seriousness of their action the leaders, apart from moving motions expressing total and implicit confidence in the leadership of Gov. Rochas Okorocha and Dr. Hilary Eke also moved a motion of loss of confidence on Mr Onwuemeodo even as they urged the state party executive to sanction him and other erring members of the party to check their excesses and serve as a deterrent to others.
Declaring the well attended meeting open, president of the forum, Chief Aductus Onuoha had condemned in strongest terms the unbecoming attitude of Mr. Onwuemeodo and other appointees of the administration from the area who have made it a point of duty to undermine and ridicule the office and person of the party state chairman, saying it was shameful that while other zones of the state accord him their maximum respect, his own kinsmen chose to malign and attack him.
He also took exception to the resort to attacking the body on the pages of newspaper as is being done by the governor’s chief press secretary adding that henceforth the body would begin to take seriously such deviant actions even as he questioned Mr Onwuemeodo’s new found love for Gov. Rochas Okorocha whom he said the CPs had before his appointment written over 30 stinking write-ups on in his x-ray column.
Adding their voices, Chiefs Alan B. Onyemaechi, Larry Osuagwu, and Dr. Jude Agulanna opined that the appointees of Gov. Okorocha from Mbaise have never made any positive contributions to the development of the area and welfare of party members most of whom contributed more than them (appointees) to the re-election of the governor.
According to them instead of working on one page with the party chairman who is their brother and has made contributions to their political growth they are busy blackmailing him and other leaders of the party from the area before the governor, warning that unless they are disciplined they could jeopardize the future of Mbaise APC.
Dr. Eke in his own speech applauded the rare gesture of love and solidarity of his people which he said was a convincing proof that the party in the area is behind him, noting that it had been sleeping before the touching gesture has woken him up adding that now that he is awake he would sleep no more.
He regretted what he described as the un-Mbaise conduct and action of the likes of Mr. Onwuemeodo who he had extended brotherly hand of cooperation and working in unity with but who instead of reciprocating his gestures has chosen to open and covertly undermine his office and person.
The APC chairman who decried the rise of indiscipline and anti-party activities among members of the party in the area in recent times however warned that his leadership would no longer tolerate brazen embarrassment.
