The senator representing Imo East (Owerri zone) senatorial district of Imo State in the Nigerian Senate, Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu (Samdaddy) has inaugurated a committee with the sole mandate of organizing the first ever economic summit in the senatorial district.
Inaugurating the committee Friday in Owerri, the state capital, the senator who is the Senate committee chairman on ethics, privileges and public petitions charged the committee chairman and his members who are eminent indigenes of the senatorial district to connect the zone to the national and international grids with the summit.
The senator said that apart from the investment opportunities it would attract to the zone, the summit will offer employment slots to the young and vibrant people of the senatorial district. He maintained that the summit which will have in attendance great scholars, business experts and other stakeholders from within and outside the country will examine the economic situation of the zone with the view of making it one of the commercial nerve centers in the country.
Responding, the chairman of the committee, Chief Emma Ojinere promised on behalf of his members to put together a summit that would bring economic and developmental fortunes to the zone.
While commending the senator for his ebulliency, dexterity and commitments in making the zone the best, Chief Ojinere said that Samdaddy has not left anyone in doubt that the people of the zone did the best thing by making him their senator in 2015.
