On the occasion of the Children Ministry Week which was wrapped up on Sunday May 29, 2016 in Methodist Church Nigeria, the Bishop of the Diocese of Owerri, Rt. Rev. Dennis Okechukwu Mark charged children in the church to remain obedient and live their lives in the fear of God.
Bishop Mark who spoke through his goodwill message to the children in the diocese reminded parents and the church that children are gifts from God which have been entrusted in their care.
“We must take up this responsibility with all diligence and urgency it requires, bearing in mind that we are already in the perilous times where iniquities and evil abound.
“The word of God still remains the trustworthy standard that we are to use to raise children that would fulfil their God-given destinies” he said.
While likening children to an arrows in the hand of warrior, siting Psalm 127: 4-5; Blessed is the man who has his quiver full of them, they shall not be ashamed, but shall speak with their enemies in the gate, Rt. Rev. Dennis Okechukwu Mark charged the children to reciprocate the love from their parents with hard work, obedience, and shunning all forms of evil.
“I urge you therefore, my lovely children to remain obedient to your parents/teachers, shun all kinds of evil as I assure you that we will always be there for you, to support and help you develop the great potentials within you to become all that God has destined you to be”
